Happy Birthday Nathan!

I am still catching up on my posts, so this is a little late. My sweet little Nathan turned 2 this past Sunday. My sister's family came over for lunch and Baskin Robbins ice-cream cake. We then went over to our community pool and swam for a few hours. It was a pretty low-key day, but fun. Here are a few pictures.

Nathan didn't want to open the box, he just wanted to stand on it.

Nathan and his cousin Luke. Maybe I shouldn't have let Nathan eat ice cream cake with his white shirt on.

Last Week

On Wednesday, we (Joshua, Nathan and myself) went over to Joshua's friend Rex's house for a swim/play day. Rex's mom, Katie used to babysit Joshua when I used to work part-time. I quit working before Nathan was born. Joshua had a fun time swimming and playing with his friends.

On Thursday, we made a trip across town to Ikea. Since I was on the other side of town, we went over to my sister's house to play and then went to lunch with her and her kids.

On Friday, I took the boys to have their picture taken. I needed to get Nathan's 2 year pictures taken. Nathan is not one to sit still, so needless to say, I didn't get many pictures taken. There were a few good ones that turned out. I will post them at another time. On Friday evening, we all went to watch Gary play his softball game. Our church has softball leagues set up by the neighborhood that you live in, so Gary is playing on a team whose players all live in Vistancia (the name of our community). It was a little hot for a 6pm game, but we all survived. The dug-out had misters, so I would stand in there with the boys when Gary's team was on the field.

TUESDAY

My computer has been down since last Monday, so I'm catching up my posts.

So after Monday's self hair-cut, I took Joshua to the barber on Tuesday. He had cut his hair so short, that he had to have his head almost completely bald to make it even. Here is the new Joshua. At first, he didn't like the new look, but with the summer heat, he's starting to appreciate the low-maintenance cut.

Joshua scissor-hands

Joshua decided that he wanted his hair a little shorter and took matters into his own hands, or should I say scissors. Yes, he tried to cut his own hair. He says that he also tried to cut Nathan's hair as well but fortunately did not succeed or did a good job because we can't tell. The worst thing was, I had scheduled for he and Nathan to have their pictures on Tuesday, instead we took Joshua to the barber to have his head shaved. More photos to follow later.

Father's Day weekend

On Saturday, Gary and I had the day to ourselves. We spent the day running errands across town and ended the day at the Diamondbacks baseball game. Joshua and Nathan spent the night with Gary's parents. On Sunday morning, Gary went and picked up the boys from his parents and went to Home Depot. He did a few projects around the house, while watching little bits of the U.S. Open here and there. Gary also made a delicious dinner for Father's Day. His parents came over for dinner. He grilled up some yummy steaks. Joshua and I made homemade strawberry ice cream for dessert (that's what daddy requested). That was pretty much it for our weekend. Gary left on Monday morning for Acapulco. He is working on a new golf course there.

Happy Birthday Augusta

Today is Augusta's 6th Birthday. Augusta is one of our dogs . I took this picture of Mackenzie and Augusta in September of last year when Joshua had to take a picture of his pets to preschool. Mackenzie is on the left and Augusta is on the right. Yes, Augusta is named after the golf course.

Happy Anniversary!

Gary and I got married 8 years ago today. We met at Scottsdale Bible Church during a function that the Young Adult ministry was hosting. We had both been attending that church, but I had never met him prior to that evening. Gary asked me if I wanted to dance (the church was hosting a swing dance night, back when the whole swing thing was popular) and the rest is history. Eight years later, we have 2 boys and 2 dogs. We have moved once (still in the same city) and Gary has changed jobs once. We also changed churches once. We really loved Scottsdale Bible, but after we had Joshua, the drive got to be too much. We are looking forward to a weekend to ourselves, as Gary's parents are going to watch the boys this weekend. Gary is glad we no longer have a VCR, as I usually make him watch our wedding video every year on our anniversary. Just wait until I have it transferred to a DVD, though!
