Please pray for my family

Our family just got back from a fun 4 days in San Diego last night (Saturday). This morning (Sunday) I got a call that my mom was found slumped over the steering wheel of her car (she lives in North Carolina). She was taken the hospital and they tried to stabilize her. They were not able to keep her stable and she ended up not being able to breathe on her own. They put her on a ventilator and transferred her to a different (larger) hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. They don't know what happened, but the MRI came back clear (meaning, she didn't have a stroke). She is currently still in the ER on the ventilator and struggling to stay alive. I am leaving tonight with my sister Wendy to fly to North Carolina. We arrive in the morning (on Monday morning). Please keep my mom in your prayers. This whole thing is completely unexpected as she is/was perfectly healthy.

Tolmachoff Farms

Yesterday, I took the boys to Tolmachoff Farms. We went with our MOMS Club. The kids got to pick vegetables, go through the corn maze, ride the train, and pick their own pumpkin. There was a petting zoo and many games there. There was the very popular bounce house, as well. Here are a few pictures of our fun morning.

A Visitor in the Night

Last night we were relaxing, watching a little TV when a neighbor called us and said she saw a skunk go into our backyard. Fortunately, the dogs were asleep and we were able to lock them inside before there was an incident. We ventured outside with flashlights in hand to find our new critter friend wandering around our backyard, looking for food, and a way out. We finally had enough observing and left the side gate open to provide an easy exit. The scene got a little exciting when the skunk came onto our back patio and to the back door to entice the two dogs. We thought our male dog was going to bust through the wall. With the dogs going crazy, mr skunk made it's way out of our yard and off to terrorize another family that evening.

Arizona Diamondbacks Season Finale

Last Saturday night, I (Gary) went with my mom to watch the last Arizona Diamondbacks game in which my dad was a Golden Glover (see July 7 post). One of the last promotions of the year the DBack's organization runs is "Shirt of Our DBacks" in which 43 people win the opportunity to go on the field after the final game of the season and get the actual game jersey of their selected player. I bought a couple of tickets that night and was lucky enough to be one of the 43. So last Sunday, Tiffany, my dad, Joshua and I headed back to the ball park to watch the final game. Joshua and I reported in the sixth inning to our designated location, got all of our paper work done and then waited for the drawing to find out our player. Joshua drew Yusmeiro Petit (#48) who was the fifth starting pitcher for most of the season for the Diamondbacks. Joshua was a little disappointed because he really wanted Eric Byrnes or Orlando Hudson but once he got on the field he was really excited and in awe.

Doug Davis was next to us and signed a baseball for Joshua also.

Joshua's first soccer game

I am officially a soccer mom. Joshua has done 2 seasons of tee-ball, so we thought we'd let him play something different. He really likes soccer. Our church is large enough that we have our own league and the church as their own soccer fields. He is excited because his friend Rex is on his team. His first game was this past Saturday. I got a few "action" shots but they were all pretty blurry. Joshua scored 2 goals, so he was very excited. I'll try again this Saturday. This is a picture of Joshua (left) and Rex before the game.

Hall of Flame Fire Truck Museum

The boys and I visited the Hall of Flame Fire Truck Museum earlier this month with our MOMS Club. I am a little behind in getting these pictures posted.
